Academic Excellence Award By Govt. of Dubai
For providing quality education to promote intellectual, social and cultural vivacity among its students, NPS International School, Guwahati has been awarded with the prestigious Academic Excellence Award during the World Education Awards ceremony organized as part of the World Education Summit, 2016 in Dubai on Monday evening (15.02.2016). Over 300 representatives from 14 countries took part in the event.
During interaction with the Founder and Chairman of NPS International School, Mr JN Das, and Director, Mr Vivek Sikka, on the sidelines of the Summit, Dubai Minister for Education Dr Abdulla Al Karam invited NPS International School to setup its campus in Dubai. Driven by UAE’s “Vision 2020”, which lays emphasis on the development of a first-rate education system, authorities in Dubai have also offered tax and investment free tie-up with NPS. In his speech, Dr Abdulla Al Karam also invited other front-ranking Indian schools to setup their campuses in Dubai.
“Prominent Indian schools like Ryan Group of Institutions and DPS International School, New Delhi have their campuses in Dubai. We have also given open invitation to the management of NPS International School, Guwahati to set up their campus in our land as well,” the Dubai minister added.
With the UAE emerging as a major education hub, the major universities and educational institutions across the Globe are setting up their campuses in the country. Dubai offers educational opportunities from around the world, reflecting the diversity of its residents. Countries like US, UK, Germany, Russia, Japan, Philippines, Australia, India, Pakistan, Iran, Lebanon, Egypt, France, Ireland, etc., have their presence in the education scenario in Dubai.
“Keeping the significance of the region as an important educational destination and looking at the all-round achievement of NPS International School over the years, especially after winning Government of India’s Rajiv Gandhi National Quality Award, India’s highest national award in quality, we have decided to make a foray with the front-ranking school based in the northeastern city of India,” said Dr Abdulla Al Karam, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director General of Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), Dubai. KHDA is responsible for the growth of quality and private education in Dubai and equivalent to the Ministry of HRD in India while the designation of Dr Abdulla Al Karam is equivalent to Union Cabinet Minister in India.
Some of the prominent foreign institutions which have set up their campuses in Dubai in higher education sector include University of Bradford, Dubai; Hult International Business School, Dubai; Applied Science University, Bahrain; SP Jain School of Global Management, Dubai; BITS Pilani, Dubai; New York University, Abu Dhabi etc.
Elaborating on the Dubai Government proposal, NPS Chairman Mr JN Das said that the proposal is itself a rare honour for the entire NPS family. “This invitation once again proves the academic excellence of NPS International School. It’s a rare honour for all of us and I congratulate each and every members of NPS family,” Mr Das said.
“Our focus has always been on helping schools perform better…we have been giving them feedback on their educational outcomes rather than disrupting their input, i.e., the educational content, school infrastructure, teacher recruitment policies and the likes. This is where happiness and wellbeing work as contributors in shaping a new dimension in education,” Dr Abdulla Al Karam said while inviting NPS to their land.
A galaxy of 100 odd speakers from across school education and higher education sectors shared their experiences on a wide range of thematic during the award giving ceremony in Dubai on late Monday evening. V. Radhakrishnan, Minister of State for Education, Government of Sri Lanka along with Dr Ayoub Kazim, Managing Director, Dubai Knowledge Village and Dubai International Academic City distributed the awards during the programme.
Some of the prominent education institutions which were awarded during the Summit include Indian High School, Dubai; Abu Dhabi Indian School; Little Wonder Nurseries, UAE; University of London, UK; Amity University, Dubai; Abu Dhabi University, Abu Dhabi; New York University, Abu Dhabi; Canadian university, Dubai, UAE etc.
Apart from NPS, other Indian schools which were awarded during the event include Ryan Group of Institutions and DPS International School, New Delhi.
