Global Sustainable School Award
Guwahati, May 3, 2017: Environmental experts from across the globe will have threadbare discussion at the United Nations soon on the reports and other documents prepared by the students of NPS International School to combat Climate Change and other global environmental issues.
Apart from trying to create awareness among the masses for a green society, students of the school are also working tirelessly to make its entire school building and environment clean and green over the years.
For promoting UN Global Sustainable Goals through education in the academic year of 2016-17, GEAERD, a unique and startling educational platform of global repute, has awarded NPS International School the Global Sustainable School Awards (Gold Category) in a meeting held in New Delhi on April 22. GEAERD (Global Educators Association for Educational Research and Development) has also decided to forward all the awards and documents relating to its fight against international environmental issues to the UN, the Global Goals and Round Table Global etc. This will undoubtedly recognize the contribution of the school students their move to tackle the global menace.
Portraying their commitment towards Green, students of NPS International School, Guwahati are working overtime to combat climate change and other environmental hazards. Students of the school have also launched a campaign to enable a sustainable built environment for all and facilitate India to be one of the global leaders in the sustainable built environment by 2025. The students of the school are also trying their best to make the entire school building and its environment green.
Recognizing their effort for a clean and green society, NPS International School, Guwahati was also awarded with the coveted Green School Platinum Award 2016 during Green Building Congress 2016, an international conference and exhibition on Green Building and Built Environment, in Mumbai in the month of October last year.
“It’s good news for the students that the details of the award and the documents submitted by them along with the projects will be forwarded to the experts in UN, the Global Goals and Round Table Global etc., by GEAERD,” Mrs Probhati Biswas, principal of the school said, adding: It is believed that the students of the school will be immensely benefited when they receive the reports following the thorough scanning by the experts in UN, Global Goals and Round Table Global etc.
The theme of the GEAERD awards this year was on “Sustainable Development” wherein hundreds of schools which are functioning around congruent areas sent their entries for assessment out of which 28 finest ones were selected by the Jury members under Gold and Silver categories. More than 200 members of the community service club participated in the activities involved to carry out these goals.
In the Silver category, some of the prominent schools which were awarded during the programme are: Gyan Mandir Public School; Tagore International Senior Secondary School, Delhi; St. John’s Universal School, Mumbai;. Bal Bharti Public School, Ghaziabad, UP; GD Goenka Public School, New Delhi, Model Town; JBCN International School, Borivali, Mumbai etc.
In a press communiqué, Mr Himanshu Sharma, founder & CEO, GEAERD, said, “The global sustainable goals opted by NPS International School were ‘Action to combat Climate Change & its impacts and ensuring healthy lives and promoting wellbeing for all’. The main aim behind them conducting these activities was to create awareness about general wellbeing and social responsibility.”
