NPS International School, Guwahati took up the noble initiative of revamping the century-old legendary Shri Shri Damodar Dev Satra in Patbaushi, Barpeta district. The satra reopened on November 23, 2014-15, after six months of reconstruction work. The temple, originally constructed by the Ahom King Swargadeo Pramatta Singha (reign 1744-1751 CE), was in a dilapidated condition since ages, and its renovation was undertaken by the Management, teachers, and students of NPS International School in June 2014-15 as a part of the school’s social responsibility activities.
In the Satra reopening ceremony, countless devotees in and around Barpeta district assembled at the site to witness the holy event. This auspicious ceremony was graced by ADC of Barpeta district; Mr. Khagen Kalita, Executive Editor of Pratidin Time, Guwahati; Professor Dr. B K Das of Jorhat Medical College along with students and teaching staff of NPS International School.
In his speech, the ADC highly appreciated the noble initiative undertaken by NPS International School and congratulated the school for the outstanding work.
